The LUISS Community Garden goes to the Expo

Parterre 1Last Wednesday, LUISS presented the community garden launched last year in the campus in viale Romania at the Italian pavilion of the Expo.

A pioneering innovation in Italy, and a completely new educational tool, able to train other abilities, the so-called soft skills, that companies are considering increasingly important to choose the best candidate to hire.

Our development shall be delivered by a greater awareness of the youngest – and the more grown-up too – on the environmental issues. Paul Polman, CEO of Unilever, notes that the world consumes 1.3 times more than the planet can replenish. Given current rates, by 2030 we would require two planets to supply the resources we need and to absorb our waste.

Through the practice of the reasonable slowness, that is, the ability to distinguish when we need to speed up and when we need to slow down to make room to a further thinking, the students can interact with different people and skills, cultivating relations in non-conventional ways.

We are currently running many projects to let them make the most of this experience, and we were proud to present those projects in the very same place, a symbol for the whole world, that makes sustainability a rallying cry.

Here are some moments from that day.
